DEPARTMENT OF Chemistry

History:

The Department of Chemistry was established in 2014. The department's main objective is to educate young people in the field of Chemical Science and equip them with the skills to conduct research and development, which can then be used to develop solutions for the betterment of society through science and technology. The chemistry department offered honors and general courses following the syllabus prescribed by Manipur University. It can be mentioned that the first batch of chemistry honours students wrote their final exam in 2014. The department's laboratory has the latest infrastructure facilities, including a fume hood, spectrophotometer, digital micro-weighing balance, pH meter, and more. The department strictly adheres to the safety norms necessary for standard laboratory practices. The department aims to reduce the gap between rural and urban areas by engaging in educational outreach, teaching, learning, and research collaborations with other state-of-the-art research institutes. The department provides students access to quality classroom interactions and practical learning opportunities while promoting apprenticeship-mentorship relationships. The department has produced numerous students who performed well in the University Examination. Furthermore, the department seeks to generate employment opportunities and foster socially responsible students of chemistry who possess advanced knowledge in the field. Apart from academic activities, the department has also been actively engaged in outreach programs to promote the understanding of chemistry among school students. Currently, three faculty members are fully dedicated to developing the department and the institute.

To nurture and impart Chemical Science to youths and train them in research and development to provide solutions in developing society through science and technology.
To bridge the rural-urban division by pursuing educational outreach, teaching, learning, and research collaborations with other state-of-the-art research institutes. To train, educate students and foster them the advanced knowledge of chemical science by providing access to quality-based classroom interactions, a more practical approach, following apprenticeship-mentorship relations, generating employment opportunities, and molding students who can stand as socially responsible students of chemistry.
